All the way from Japan

Masunaga glasses frames come all the way from Fukui, Japan premiering back in 1905. The founder Gozaemon Masunaga brought in skilled craftsmen from Osaka and Tokyo to ensure quality in even the earliest frames, however, at the time their first collection of glasses were considered to be third-rate. Gozaemon grew Masunaga the hard way and with years of experience and experimenting with different processes, Masunaga now produce high quality, on-trend frames.

Masunaga pride themselves on the history of their growth as a company and with a mission of excellence they strive to be the best.

“We manufacture excellent eyeglasses. We want to make a profit if we can, but we don’t hesitate to take a loss. It is always in our thoughts to manufacture excellent eyeglasses.” – Masunaga’s mission statement.

Production

Masunaga are the only company in Japan that oversee the entire process of production, this is to ensure high standards remain throughout the production process. Though this may take longer for them it means they can guarantee their customers that Masunaga frames have all come from one place and have been meticulously monitored during their production.

Masunaga produce incredibly lightweight frames from metals, acetate or a combination of the two. This provides customers with an eyewear option that is less invasive yet still stylish and on-trend.
