Katy Waterman (BSc RHAD)
Audiologist
Katy graduated from University of Southampton with an Audiology BSc degree, and has been helping those with hearing impairment and their families since. Having divided her time between working with the NHS and private clinics, Katy enjoys the personal approach to hearing care that Leightons can offer. With a hearing loss herself, and access to a wide variety of treatments, this has inspired her commitment to excellent customer care. Outside her role at Leightons, Katy is also an enthusiastic yoga instructor and enjoys spending quality time with her family.
Liny Thorpe
Optometrist
Liny joined us in 2014 after moving back to Dorset. She qualified as an optometrist in 2005 and has over 16 years' experience in both the multiple and independent sectors. Liny is a key member of our established team and much liked by many of our patients, who like to see her year on year for their eye examinations and ongoing care. In her spare time, Liny enjoys running and travelling.
David Heptinstall
Dispensing Optician
David joined Leightons as a Trainee Dispensing Optician in the old Christchurch branch nearly 40 years ago. After qualifying, he stayed there for several years before embarking on relief manager duties, allowing him to travel to virtually all the Leightons branches! Once he had tired of all the driving, David returned to Poole Branch as a full time Dispensing Optician. In his spare time he enjoys theatre, grandparent duties and regular trips to the Isle of Wight with his wife and their little Norfolk Terrier.
Molly Dunford
Trainee Dispensing Optician
Molly joined us in 2020 as an Optical & Hearing Assistant, with a clear view to pursuing a career in optics and is now in her third and final year of training to become a Dispensing Optician. Molly shows a great dedication to patient care, making sure everyone feels welcome and well looked after, and thoroughly enjoys helping patients find their perfect new pair of spectacles.
Ellie Smithers
Customer Experience Host
Ellie joined us in 2021 as an Optical & Hearing Assistant, straight from college. Ellie quickly immersed herself in our team, showing enthusiasm and determination in all aspects of her role. Now, as our Customer Experience Host, Ellie strives to create the best experience for our patients and introduce patients to our broad range of optical and hearing care services. Ellie has a particular interest in hearing care and has aspirations in audiology.
June Graham
Optical & Hearing Assistant
June joined the team at Poole Branch in 2016 and loves the variety across all the different aspects of her role as an Optical & Hearing Assistant. She has worked for large corporate companies in the past, and joining a smaller, established team was a refreshing and interesting change. June has gained a great knowledge of optics in her time at Leightons and has helped train many new staff members. June has shown commitment to her role in completing the ABDO College Optical Assistant Course.
Emily Evans
Optical & Hearing Assistant
We welcomed Emily as our newest team member in 2023. Emily has become an asset to our small and well-established team here at Poole. With previous customer service experience, she has a wonderful manner with our patients and always offers a warm and friendly welcome with a smile. Emily aspires to a future career in criminology and is completing her degree alongside her role with us.
