We are open by appointment only
At Leightons Opticians & Hearing Care, we are committed to meeting your essential eye and hearing health needs throughout the current COVID-19 pandemic. In line with current government guidelines, routine testing is suspended, and we are offering care to all our customers remotely in the first instance, and only face-to-face when clinically necessary and safe to do so.
Essential and urgent care
By appointment only, Leightons practices are open for urgent and essential face-to-face care, for both optical and hearing. If you feel you require an essential appointment, please complete the request form below.
Due to high demand and social distancing requirements, all appointment requests will be triaged, either by phone or email, so you will be contacted within 2 working days (Mon-Sat) of us receiving your request.
Please do not visit any Leightons practice until you have had an appointment time confirmed by a member of staff. You will not be able to enter the practice without an appointment. By requesting an appointment, you agree to comply with all safety measures in place in the practice. These measures are in place to protect the wellbeing of our staff and our patients.
No one is permitted to attend a face-to-face appointment if they or their immediate family have had COVID-19 symptoms within the last 14 days.
If you suspect an eye emergency, for example experiencing floaters in your vision, sudden eye pain, sudden loss of sight or flashing lights in your vision, please call us on 0800 40 20 20 and choose the emergency option, or call NHS 111 (if out of hours) - do not make an online booking.
What you could expect when you visit us in practice
We are here for you and, as always, will ensure the very highest standards of service and care.
We’ll give you a call to carefully understand your vision and hearing needs and decide whether a visit to the practice is clinically necessary.
HEALTH & SYMPTOMS
When we call, we will ask about your general, eye and ear health, which includes asking you specific questions about Coronavirus. It’s vitally important that only fit and well staff and patients enter the practice.
BY APPOINTMENT ONLY
We will be providing services on an “appointment only” basis to care for any patient with emergency, priority or essential needs, where clinically necessary.
SOCIAL DISTANCING & SHIELD MEASURES
The number of appointments will be limited to ensure you have optimal time with us in a safe way. We have installed social distancing and shield measures in our practices and have hand hygiene facilities available for us all to use.
OUR PRACTICE TEAM & PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE)
Our team has been fully trained in the use of PPE and social distancing measured. Team members will wear appropriate PPE, which may include face masks, face shields, disposable aprons and gloves.
WHEN YOU ARRIVE
We’ll invite you to use our hand hygiene facilities. If you’re bringing your own spectacles or hearing aids, we’ll give you a sanitising wipe to clean them and a box to place them in.
HYGIENE & CLEANING
Our practices will be cleaned thoroughly on an hourly basis, and our consulting rooms will be sanitised before and after each patient visits.
If you have any concerns, please feel free to talk this through with us when we call.
