Correct your eyesight while you sleep

Orthokeratology, or Ortho-K, is a corrective system that involves wearing specially designed contact lenses overnight. It is also known as “overnight correction therapy”.

How does it work?

Ortho-K uses a hard gas permeable lens. This lens gently reshapes the surface of the front of the eye (cornea), correcting your sight while you sleep. The next morning, you simply remove the lenses, giving natural, crisp vision all day long.

The big advantage of Ortho-K is that you don’t need to wear corrective lenses, either glasses or contact lenses, during the day. If you have an active lifestyle, particularly taking part in contact or water sports on a regular basis, it can be especially useful.

Who can use Ortho-K lenses?

Orthokeratology is usually prescribed for one of two purposes:

  • To correct refractive errors in the eye (myopia and astigmatism). Ortho-K lenses can also be used to correct presbyopia in some cases.
  • To slow the progression of childhood myopia.

Where is Ortho-K available?

Orthokeratology treatment is currently available in the following branches: Chandlers Ford, Epsom, Farnham, Hempstead Valley, Lewes (Spectrum Eyecare), Marlow (Leightons Insight), Poole (Leightons & Tempany) and St Albans.
