What is a hearing aid review appointment?

A hearing aid review is a personalised session designed to check how well your hearing aids are performing and ensure they’re still the right fit for your needs. Our goal is simple: to continually assess your needs over time and allowing you to maximise the benefit from your hearing aids, ensuring you feel confident in every conversation.

Every review is complimentary as part of your Leightons lifetime aftercare package when you purchase your hearing aids with us.

What to expect during your appointment

Your hearing aid review is completely tailored to you. Here’s what happens:

1

Feedback

You'll have a conversation with your Audiologist about your ear health and hearing aids.

2

Ear health check

We’ll check your ear health using an otoscope, looking for wax build-up, infection, or other issues. We’ll also take images so you can see your ear canals and eardrums.

3

Tympanometry

A tympanometry test will also be done, which assesses how well your ear drums are functioning, looking for signs of issues with the ear drums or congestion behind them.

4

Hearing check

If needed, we’ll assess any changes in your hearing and speech processing since your last visit.

5

Hearing aids adjustment

We’ll test how your hearing aids are performing and reprogram them if necessary.

6

Personal advice

You’ll get expert guidance on maintenance and any potential upgrades.

Why regular hearing aid reviews matter

Your hearing and lifestyle can change over time – and your hearing aids should keep up. Regular check-ups ensure:

Maximum clarity and comfort

Updated programming to match your current hearing needs

Ongoing professional support from people who know your hearing best

Early identification of potential issues

Longer device lifespan

Just like eye tests or dental check-ups, regular reviews keep everything in perfect working order.

When should I book a hearing aid review

You should book a hearing aid review every 6 months – or sooner if you notice:

  • Sounds seem unclear or distorted
  • Discomfort when wearing your hearing aids
  • Shorter battery life than usual
  • Lifestyle or environment changes that affect your hearing experience
  • Your warranty is close to expiry

Our audiologists are always here to help – whether you need a full check-up, or just some friendly advice.
