Terms & Conditions MyLeightons Care Plan

1. Introduction

1.1. The MyLeightons Care Plan ("the Plan") is a membership scheme designed to provide exclusive benefits on eye care, hearing care, and related products at Leightons Opticians & Hearing Care. By enrolling in the Plan, you agree to the following terms and conditions.

1.2. The MyLeightons Care Plan is provided by Leightons Opticians & Hearing Care, or a subsidiary of, (“Leightons Opticians & Hearing Care”) for its customers' use and benefit in its branches.

1.3. The Member (“the member”) of the care plan is the named patient/customer registered on our Membership Management System (“ADARO”) that cover individuals

1.4. The Primary Member (“Primary Member”) of the care plan is the named patient/customer on our MembershipManagement system for plans that cover more than one individual.

2. Membership Eligibility & Duration

2.1. The Plan is available to all patients/customers irrespective of age, however payment for membership must be made via Direct Debit and therefore the payee must be over the age of 16 or have the ability to set up a Direct Debit from their bank account.

2.2. Membership is non-transferable and cannot be shared between individuals except where other terms allow.

3. Membership Plans & Pricing

3.1. We offer different types of membership depending on the number of adults/children that require cover. We also adjust the membership fee based on the NHS entitlement of the member. To see the membership eligibility and number of individuals covered on each plan please see Table 1 overleaf.

3.2. The cost of the membership is charged monthly in arrears and the current monthly fees are listed on the Table 1 overleaf

3.3. If the member or primary member qualifies for an NHS contribution towards their eye care due to age, Leightons Opticians & Hearing Care will automatically make the change to the plan payments to take effect in the month of the persons 60th Birthday

3.4. If the member or primary member no longer qualifies for an NHS contribution towards their eye care due to age, Leightons Opticians & Hearing Care will automatically make the change the plan payments to take effect in the month of the person's 19th Birthday.

3.5. For all other NHS qualifying criteria, it is the responsibility of the member to advise Leightons Opticians & Hearing Care of their qualification, any adjustments to the plan fee will be made in time for the next available collection point assuming that this has been given with at least 10 days’ notice prior to the next collection date.

3.6. Any changes to the fee will be communicated to the lead member in writing (via email OR via letter if email is not available) with a minimum of 14 days’ notice prior to the change taking effect.

3.7. Any changes in price, resulting in over payment, unless the fault of Leightons Opticians & Hearing Care will not be eligible for refund

4. Minimum Term & Cancellation Policy

4.1. Membership requires a minimum commitment of either:

  • 4.1.1. 12 months from the start date, AND
  • 4.1.2. 6 months after a qualifying purchase (e.g. glasses, hearing aids or contact lenses)

4.2. After the minimum term, members can cancel at any time with 30 days’ notice

4.3. If a member cancels before completing the minimum term, they must:

  • 4.3.1. Pay the remaining balance for the full term, OR
  • 4.3.2. Repay the total discounts received under the plan - whichever is lower.

5. Plan Benefits

5.1. The current plan benefits are shown on the table attached (Table 1 - MyLeightons Benefits at a Glance)

5.2. Leightons Opticians and Hearing Care reserve the right, with notice, to change and amend the benefits of the care plan at any time.

6. Payment Terms

6.1. Payments are collected by Direct Debit via our payment supplier ADARO Optics Ltd

6.2. Payments are collected on 1st or 15th of each month

6.3. Payments will show on your bank account as “AO Optics”

6.4. Missed or failed payments will be reattempted at the next collection date

6.5. If a second collection is missed or failed, then your membership will be suspended pending bringing your account back up to date

6.6. The branch teams will contact you if this situation occurs to resolve

6.7. Please note that missed or failed payments remain due under section 4

7. Annual Price Review

7.1. Membership fees are reviewed annually in line with inflation and operating costs.

7.2. Any price increase will be communicated to members at least 14 days in advance

7.3. Members who are outside of their minimum term highlighted in section 4 may cancel before the new pricing takes effect if they do not wish to continue.

8. Specific Terms for Optical Product Discounts

8.1. Additional pairs of glasses qualify for discounts for either

  • 8.1.1. 24 months following the initial purchase; OR
  • 8.1.2. The next Clinical Examination, whichever is soonest

9. Specific Terms for accidental breakage cover

9.1. Cover is only available for glasses purchased under the MyLeightons Care Plan

9.2. Claims for accidental breakage cover must be made within the first year of purchase to qualify for the discounted replacement

9.3. You must be a member on the care plan at the time of making the claim

9.4. The cover is for breakage and not loss, therefore evidence of the broken spectacles may be requested before awarding the discount

10. Specific Terms for MyLeightons Contact Lens Plans

10.1. If a customer is a contact lens wearer and wishes to make use of the benefits on the MyLeightons Contact Lens Care Plan they must be the named / primary member of either:

  • 10.1.1. MyLeightons Family Plan
  • 10.1.2. MyLeightons Contact Lens Plan

10.2. The secondary member or Children covered under the MyLeightons Family Plan, or the MyLeightons Contact Lens Plan are not eligible for any discounts covered by the MyLeightons Contact Lens Plan

11. Specific Terms for MyLeightons Child Plans

11.1. Enhanced Eye Examination or Ultimate Eye Examination available where clinically possible and/or available in branch

11.2. 20% Discount is available on upgrade spend above and beyond what is available and covered by your NHS contribution

11.3. 50% Discount available on additional pairs purchased at the same time as the NHS pair, future purchases will be charged at normal retail prices

11.4. All additional pairs will not be covered under any NHS voucher scheme in respects to lose, breakage or damage

12. Specific Terms for Hearing Benefits

12.1. Second set of hearing aids must be purchased within one year of the initial purchase to qualify for discount

12.2. Lyric Hearing aids are excluded from this benefit

13. Additional Terms

13.1. Unless otherwise stated the Discounts available to members can be combined with other offers and promotions

13.2. Leightons reserves the right to amend these terms with prior notice

13.3. Membership benefits apply only to purchases made at Leightons Opticians & Hearing Care branches
