Low-Level Light Therapy (LLLT) for dry eyes
For many people, dry, tired, or sensitive eyes can make everyday life more difficult - from working on screens to driving or reading comfortably. These symptoms often come from changes in the delicate balance of your tears. That’s where Low-Level Light Therapy (LLLT) can help. At Leightons, we offer LLLT, a gentle, clinically proven treatment that helps to relieve discomfort and improve eye health by stimulating natural healing and reducing inflammation.
What happens during treatment?
The treatment lasts for around 30 minutes. During this time, you might feel a mild warmth, which most patients find relaxing. The light works deep within the skin to stimulate healing, improve oil flow from your glands, and calm inflammation.
Once your session is complete, you can continue your day as normal - there’s no discomfort, downtime, or side effects.
Treatment plan and results
Most patients typically benefit from four LLLT sessions, spaced one to two weeks apart. This treatment schedule gives your eyes time to respond naturally and regain comfort. Your optometrist may recommend maintenance sessions every few months to help sustain results.
After completing your course of treatment, you may notice:
Some patients notice improvement after the first session, while others feel gradual relief throughout the treatment plan.
