Are you due an eye test?

General guidance recommends that you should get your eyes tested every 2 years if you are an adult and have no other symptoms.

If you are experiencing additional symptoms such as blurry vision, headaches or eye strain and pain, it is recommended to book an eye test before your regularly scheduled routine check.

Why are eye tests important?

Eye tests are important for several reasons, and not just for your sight! Your eyes can be the window into the health of your body. Regular eye tests can help:

  • Assess your vision to determine whether any correction is needed.
  • Detect early signs of sight-threatening conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma and age-related macular degeneration, particularly through our Ultimate Eye Examination.
  • Detect early signs of other possible health issues such as diabetes, high blood pressure and vascular disease.

It is also important to have regular eye tests, at intervals as recommended by your optometrist. This helps us to detect any changes in your vision or the health of your eyes as soon as possible. Of course, the sooner any changes are identified, the sooner we can help you manage them.

  • Children: Annually during developmental years
  • Over 60s: Annually, or as advised
  • Diabetics: Annually
  • Family history of eye disease: As advised by your optometrist
  • Notice blurred or changing vision
  • Experience eye discomfort or redness
  • Have frequent headaches or eye strain
  • Feel your current glasses are no longer effective
  • Start a new job with greater visual demands
  • People with diabetes
  • Those with high blood pressure or cardiovascular disease

This separate contact lens appointment includes:

  • Assessing your eye surface, eyelids and tear film under high magnification
  • Providing trial lenses and teaching you how to apply and remove them safely
  • Arranging a follow up fitting review to check comfort and vision

Your contact lens prescription can only be issued during this dedicated contact lens appointment.

Advanced imaging technology

Our enhanced and ultimate eye tests use advanced imaging to give your optometrist a clearer, more detailed picture of your eye health.

Optomap captures up to 80% of the retina in one ultra-wide image, revealing issues traditional tests may miss.

OCT uses light to create a 3D cross-section of the retina, detecting tiny structural changes years before symptoms appear.
