At Leightons Opticians and Hearing Care in Cirencester, we want our actions to have a positive impact on people’s lives. We are helping our local community with their vision and hearing, but we are always on the lookout for what more we can do.

Our Cirencester team has recently initiated a fantastic community project by setting up a recycling hub for pre-loved items. These items will be donated to Cancer Research UK, a renowned organisation dedicated to finding cures for all types of cancer. The donated items will be sold in Cancer Research UK shops, contributing to their fundraising efforts.

Sharon Scrivens, a local resident, has been tirelessly working towards raising funds for cancer research. Her dedication stems from a personal tragedy – the loss of her son to skin cancer when he was in his 20s. As part of her fight, she created Relay For Life Cirencester, a Facebook page sharing events and actions to help the cause. Since 2017, Sharon has devoted her time and energy to various fundraising activities and has successfully raised just under £400,000.

How You Can Contribute?

As a valued member of the Cirencester community, you can play a crucial role in supporting this initiative. Consider contributing pre-loved items to the recycling hub at our Leightons branch. Your donations will not only help declutter your home, but also contribute to the ongoing efforts to fund cancer research. By participating in our recycling initiative with Sharon Scrivens, you are joining a community effort to make a positive impact on the lives of those affected by cancer.
